The Help of Aromatherapy Massage Oil Release Stress and Provides Relaxation

A massage with the addition of essential oils have been performed for centuries.

For good reason too, massages aid in de-stressing, relaxation and provide a great form of physical and emotional therapy and massages are enhanced by adding essential oils.

Essential oils have the ability to add a lot to a massage as oils can assist in more deeply relaxing the muscles, to clear up the spirit and to provide an uplifting, relaxing and over all calming massage. .

With sence of smell being as strong as it is – think about it, the smell of the kitchen and a great meal being prepared or the smell of coffee when you walk into your favorite coffee shop (Starbucks™, Dietrich's™, etc.) , or the smell of freshly cut flowers, and so many other smell, all make us feel so good, and this is the same essential oils.

Essential oils come in divided into high, low and base notes – as in the perfume world – there are the heavier deeper smells, which linger and the higher notes that have a more uplifting immediate effect – take the citrus oils for example – very bright and cheery. When feeling a little down or depressed try having a massage with some Melissa in the blend, or perhaps some Mandarin and you will feel as though that cloud that’s been following you around all day has lifted, or is certainly not as heavy as it was.

The essential oils, when used in massage, can help to eliminate toxins, improve the skin, improve circulation, and effectively give you a work out without you having to do anything – other than lie down and relax (let the therapist do all the work!)

Some oils such as black pepper and marjoram, will help with muscle tension and help release those tight shoulder muscles after a day in front of that computer.

Others, such as rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, can help to boost the sex drive, whilst others can help boost the immune system – such as tea tree, and others that help to detox – such as juniper.

The trick is to find the essential oil you want to use:
  • Black pepper or marjoram both are warming, circuation and good for relief of muccle tension.
  • Lavender is helpful with headaches, wounds and bruises..
  • Rose is mildly sedative and premenstrual tension/pain, symptoms of menopause andreduced libido. Do not use if pregnant.
  • Rosemary is mild stimulant and is good whenr physically fatigued and also helps with rheumatic aches and pains.
  • Jasmine and Sandlewood are thought by many to be aphrodisiacs.
  • Neroli is some what warming, improves circulation, helps with premenstrual tension and pain, and with backaches.
  • Eucalyptus has a strong mind clearing smell and is very good for muscular aches and pains, rheumatic conditions.

And when you have the time go into your local health food store or anywhere they sell essential oils and see what else interests you.
